On Goals...

I believe strongly that once you set yourself goals, you need to meet them. Otherwise the whole thing just becomes a shambles. What's the point of the Ten Point Plan, if I don't obey it.

However, I value the opinion of the Flist, so can I skip one?

I've tried it, and I've failed. Several times. So, what do you think? Is it okay to skip that task, provided I've figured out why I can't do it and develop a task for the next 10 Point Plan that will remedy that. That's still in the spirit of the plan, but acknowledges my limitations.

But, if the Flist says that's cheating, I shall give it another go.

Well, that depends. Which one is it?

I don't think it DOES depend, Bunne dear! Either it's cheating or it isn't!

I'll go so far as to tell you that it's one of the writing tasks. But I can't do it, I don't think, until I've done some rudimentary rewriting!

(It's not Questers, though. I've written that scene.)

Well, if you've tried it and it doesn't work and it's not helping you, then I think it's probably a good idea to drop it and replace it with a different task. It doesn't sound like cheating to me if you've given it a try.

Well I don't think that you should keep at it if you aren't going anywhere. All lists have a bit of inbuilt flexibility. Just change the goal, you aren't scrapping it; you're taking it in a different direction.

The way I see it, a goal is something you want to aim towards. If you have tried, and can't complete it, then there's nothing wrong. You've aimed, but missed.
If you didn't try at all, then that's an entirely different matter.
