Smells...

Well, I've made my decision. I think. 90% sure. I'll tell you for certain when I've got a few more details to share.

My room smells. There are two of reasons for this.

Number One:
Turns out, if you put your foam mattress straight onto the carpet and forget to air it, especially as the summer hits over 30c, mould WILL ensue. Both on the carpet and the mattress. Everybody say "Ewww..."

We've cleaned it up, but there's still a slight lingering smell. I've tried masking it with oil, but I can smell it slightly- maybe just because I know it's there.

We also have a problem with Victor, the big fat boy cat. The hall and near the back door just REEKS of cat pee. And it floats into my room, so I smell it all the time. But we couldn't find where he's doing it. So we bought a blacklight. Under a blacklight, urine shows up bright yellow. So I shone that thing all up and down the damn hallway. I found a pretty big spot in my room, but that wasn't the big one.

After going all over near the back door, I shone the light on the curtains. Speckles of yellow EVERYWHERE! But worse still, when I tried the hall again, I accidentally shone my light onto the walls.

GAH!!! The damn kitty has been spraying ALL OVER THE WALLS. No WONDER it smells.

And, FYI, as I mentioned on Facebook, NEVER shine a blacklight in the area around your toilet. You don't need to see just how unhygenic and badly aiming you and those you live with truly are.

Actually, I've heard that happens cause you get splashback from the toilet when you flush. Which is why you shouldn't keep your toothbrushes near the toilet. Just a note.
