Because I love British Comedy, I thought I might share some classics that some people have tragically never seen.

I begin today with Morecambe and Wise. English industry professionals in 2000 rated their show 14th in a list of 100 greatest British shows. In 2006 (or so Wikipedia tells me) they were voted in a poll as the 2nd greatest star of all time (and they were, basically, one star).

I absolutely love Morecambe and Wise, a comedy duo who began working together in the 40s and kept working together until Eric Morecambe's death in 1984. Ernie Wise died in 1999.

The absolute best Morecambe and Wise sketch ever, in my opinion, is below. Their poor, brave guest is Andre Previn, who was conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra (Eric and Ernie could get any guest they wanted. English stars queued up to appear and be humiliated).

It's 10 minutes long, but the sketch itself starts at 3:00mins. I promise you instant hilarity.
